Google Zurich

Google Zurich

Another Camenzind Evolution today.
The fit out of the Google Offices was intended to provide a fun place to work.
Judging by Andrew’s photos (see below) they seem to have achieved that!

Seewürfel

Seewürfel

Today’s architecture piece covers Seewürfel, an office and living area near Zurich.
Eight cubes, with piazzas in between, it’s an impressive modern space, complete with somewhere to sit.

Pfalz Cellar – St Gallen

Pfalz Cellar – St Gallen

It’s that man Calatrava again.
This is the entrance to an underground area,  with one of the grooviest doors on the planet.

KKL Luzern

KKL Luzern

The KKL in Luzern is one of the countries newest concert halls.

It’s major feature, at least from outside, is the amazing cantilever roof.
Designed by Jean Nouvel, it fits in neatly with all of the historic buildings that Luzern has to offer, and is beautiful to look at, especially from one of the boats as they leave or arrive.

La Ferreira – Locarno

La Ferreira – Locarno

A trip to Locarno is always special.
I’m going there this weekend to visit two friends from England, Jill and Phil.
I hope I’ll be able to get to see this building, at Bernadino Luini 12.
Designed by Livio Vacchini, it’s the office building of System Brunner AG, a prionting company. The building also hosts a gallery

Not sure I should publicise the bank that made me redundant (twice!) but it’s one of Botta’s so, here it is.

CERN

CERN

CERN is the big European research centre.
Lots of particles being accelerated within an inch of their lives, round a big circular tube. I understate the case massively here, because I simply don’t understand it.
But, even though most of the stuff that physicists get excited about is underground, this bit on top is still pretty impressive.
Don’t you agree?

Open Air Pool

Open Air Pool

I know I’m supposed to be telling you guys stuff, but I came across this photo and would like to know where it was taken.
Any ideas?
I’m guessing it’s a thermal pool, so bathing must be great there.
All I have to do now is find it.
