Happy New Year

Like many cities, Zurich celebrates New Year with a big firework display.
Held over the lake, it’s a great way to see in the New Year, particularly if you are lucky enough to be able to get onto a roof terrace or balcony with a lake view.
And even if you won’t be here to see it, I hope you enjoy your own New Year celebrations, and have a healthy and prosperous 2009.

Happy New Year The Switzerland Traveler!
Happy new year to you Geoff, Thanks to you nice shot of Fire work. it took me plenty of time to take this kind of shot.
Anyway Happy new year to all switzerland’s people
I visited Zurich for the first time last week, and on my first day there I came across the Limmat Schwimmen. Please can you shed light on why hundereds of people all jump into the river with yellow inflatable ducks!? I loved this so much, it looked like amazing fun and endeared me to Zurich immediately! On my last day there I then came across the Limmat Wave, surfers in the river all chanting “Limmat Wave! Limmat Wave!”. I love the way that these two events looked so care free and silly – not in keeping to the general (UK) opinion that Swiss people are very regimented and slightly dull!
Please let me know anything you can about the Limmat Schwimmen and Limmat Wave! Thank you!
