St Moritz – Gourmet Week
If going skiing or even just being in the mountains builds up your appetite, or even a thirst, then St Moritz is the place to be next week.
For five days (Jan 28-Feb 2), the luxury and first class hotels of St. Moritz pull out all the culinary stops during the 15th annual St. Moritz Gourmet Festival.
The party starts with a bang – cocktails at the Carlton, the newly renovated 5 star hotel, which only re-opened last month.
After that, international chefs from Europe, Asia and Africa provide tasty morsels at several gourmet tastings.
Like chocolate? Sprüngli, one of Switzerland’s best "confiseries" (and trust me that’s saying something) is putting on a special show. You’ll be invited to taste a rich variety of chocolate varieties at the "Chocolate Cult". The buffet is apparently to die for – and the handmade chocolates really are true works of art.
And of course you can participate in the two great social activities of St Moritz. Skiing and People-Watching.
The grand finale might be tricky to get into though. The participating chefs are serving food for over 400 people in a VIP tent on the frozen lake. How you get a ticket I have no idea, but if you are going to try to blag your way in, wear fur! And a bulging wallet…
