Meat is Murder used to be the cry of the Vegetarian brigade, but in Zurich there has been no need for that for, well, ages.
Zurich is home to the Hiltl Restaurant, which is the oldest vegetarian restaurant in Europe, having opened it’s doors to the public back in the 19th century.
It’s just had a […]

If you don’t fancy being surrounded by teenage snowboarders or hurtling skiers, then there are plenty of other possibilities to ski with the family.
One of these resorts is Amden, located about an hour east (by car) of Zürich.

When I first moved to Switzerland I lived in Konstanz (Constance), just on the German side of the Swiss border. One of the great beauties of the town is the lake there, the third largest in Europe.
The lake is surrounded by three countries, Germany, Austria and (you guessed it) Switzerland.
The Swiss part runs from […]

Engelberg is one of the most popular ski resorts near Zurich, featuring ice caves and a revolving cable car.
Next weekend it also becomes the centre of attention for all in the ski jumping world.
So if you have finished all of your Christmas shopping, the wrapping is done and the turkey plucked, then why not […]

Slap bang in the middle of Zurich is one of the most traditional restaurants you’ll find in Switzerland.
And surprisingly, it is exceptionally good value!
Haute Cuisine its not - as I sad we’re talking tradition here. But tasty and good is what the food is, with the menu being heavily biased towards the good old sausage.
You […]
