AVO Sessions
Yet more music today. This time in Basel, where Switzerland meets France and Germany.
The AVO Sessions aim to offer musical highlights in a club setting. With only 1500 seats for each performance, a high degree of intimacy is guaranteed. There is a wide range of world-class musicians on the programme, with two acts performing on each night.
Seating in the stalls is at tables, each with six seats, and more typical concert style seating in the balcony. One of last year’s acts; Pink, described it as the closest contact with the audience of her entire tour.
There are a wide range of acts; from well-known superstars of the music industry: Joe Cocker, Chuck Berry and Suzanne Vega; through to more recent wonders such as Katie Melua, Joss Szone and the incomparable Rufus Wainwright.
Two awards have been announced by the organisers; lifetime achievement for Chuck Berry, and the Musicians’ Musician award for Rufus Wainwright. Expect great performances from both.

Excellent! How wonderful that Rufus Wainwright is about to get this well-deserved award. He is truly a musical genius. I’m very much looking forward to seeing him again at the AVO sessions in Basel. It sounds like we are in for a treat.
