The Ricke Collection

ricke If you are a lover of modern art, and fancy a trip out towards Austria, why not call in at the Art Museum in Liechtenstein? It’s about 90 mins by car from Zürich and you have the added appeal of visiting three countries in about 10 minutes.

Rolf Ricke was considered to be a major player in the world of contemporary art, and last year, the Art Museums of St Gallen and Liechtenstein joined forces to purchase his collection.

It’s now on display under the heading "Lust for Life" and contains works by loads of artists I’ve never heard of. If you’re really curious, the big names seem to be Richard Serra, Barry Le Va and Richard Artschwager.

The museum’s normal collection is also on display, so a trip to Vaduz before 13 January 2008 beckons. Take the skis along, and if you get bored, the slopes are only a few minutes away…
