Grand prix of the catastrophic
When I saw this listed as an event I couldn’t resist looking at it. Anything with the words Grand Prix in it will attract my attention.
But when I looked more closely I was forced to be a bit less flippant.
The Red Cross and Red Crescent have organised an exhibition dealng with media coverage, financing and the organization of relief organisations.
The Boxing Day tsunami features heavily, with personal accounts and examples of equipment used during the operation.
Contrasting the huge outpouring of generosity with the excessive gains made by some individuals and corporations, this exhibition is a reminder that Switzerland is not just a land of beautiful lakes and mountains, but also the location of many international organisations and charities.
