Fox Town – Mendrisio
It’s a known fact that most blokes aren’t overly keen on shopping. Well, unless we’re in the market for a new car, hi-fi, or HDTV, that is.
OK, I’m happy enough to go out and buy a new wardrobe in a single day (make that morning) but that is something that has to be done, rather than a leisure experience.
However, there are times when it can be fun. On a trip to the States a while back, my wife and I discovered the joys of factory outlets and a few years ago, the concept finally hit Switzerland.
Fox Town is located in Mendrisio right by the motorway close to the Italian border, and has shedloads of shops. But despite that, it’s still quite entertaining.
Fox Town covers pretty much the whole gamut of shopping needs, if you want something in the designer line, from linen to sporting equipment, you’ll probably find it there at an affordable price.
With loads of designer names from Armani to Zucchi, the centre is open seven days a week until 19:00, but somewhat bizarrely, doesn’t open until 11 in the morning. But at least you can have a coffee or window shop while you’re waiting for the doors to open.
My only purchase was a pair of sunglasses (I seem to have bought three pairs this year) but that’s probably because I already have enough shoes, a concept that most female readers would not understand!

I think it’s wonderful and gives the chance to see and to own sth from these marvellous prands beside that u can enjoy the view of Mendrisio in Switzerland and this place needs 2days at least to cover it coz it’s huge and u need to take ur time over there just to buy and look around the area of Mendrisio , I really enjoyed my trip to this place this summer and I’m thinking of visiting this place and city next year .
can anybody help me to advise if there have any reasonable hotel located in Fox Town – Mendrisio, as I would like to stay in Fox Town for 2 days to renew my wallrobe.

Hi, The only hotel I know nearby is the Coronado http://www.hotelcoronado.ch/ but it’s a conference hotel and probably doesn’t count as reasonable. If you look at http://www.mendrisiotourism.ch/lista_alloggi.asp?nid=26&lid=4 you’ll find Bed and Breakfast places reasonably close.
