Lugano, Monte Bre
Ticino, the Italian speaking part of Switzerland is located in the south of Switzerland and is relatively small at around 1200 square miles. It has a population of 320,000, but invariably has a lot of tourists because it is so lovely. It’s my favourite part of Switzerland (Hmmm, so why don’t I live there?) and Lugano is probably the best place to start your love affair with it. But we’ll start by looking down on it, from Monte Bre, a biggish hill overlooking the city and lake. It’s either a pleasant drive, a long walk, or a cable car ride from the city. The main attraction is the breathtaking view, which in my opinion is slightly enhanced by a glass of local white wine. That’s it really, I’m just going to let the landscape speak for itself.

For an additional attraction, Lugano is hosting its Autumn Festival from 5-7 October, this year, and provides an ideal opportunity to become acquainted with the foods and wines of the region. Are you beginning to detect a common theme to my posts?

Wonderful city, and Monte Bre very beautiful, even when seen on a foggy day, like we did.
