Fantoche – Animation festival
Hot on the heels of the Badenfahrt (and I can’t tell you how gutted I am that this blog came into existence too late to tell you about that) comes Fantoche.
Re-using some of the infrastructure from the 10-day street party, Fantoche is a bi-annual celebration of animated film. And it’s not just about audio-visual experiences, the centre of the festival also features a restaurant based on a couple of old cargo containers. Sounds a bit weird, but trust me on this one.
Baden may not have the cachet of Cannes, or even the more local annual film festival in Locarno, but it’s a major festival for animated arts. As well as showings of the cartoons (I suspect i shouldn’t call them that) there are plenty of workshops and congregations of international artists where exchange of views is encouraged.
Maybe it’s time to head to Baden and widen the horizons?
